From pitch to investment at Almi Invest

An investment from Almi Invest typically includes a pitch, an initial assessment, meetings, analysis, due diligence and an investment decision.

Here you can see how the process works, step by step.

1. Pitch

You submit your pitch through our online pitch form. This is where you describe your company, team, business model and the type of funding round you are planning.

This is our first introduction to your company and forms the basis for an initial assessment.

2. Initial assessment

We conduct an initial screening based on our investment criteria.

At this stage, we assess factors such as:

  • The scalability of the business
  • The composition of the team
  • Market potential
  • Stage of development and funding requirements

We also determine internally which investment focus may be relevant, such as GreenTech.

If the company matches our criteria, we move on to the next stage.

3. Initial meeting

If the opportunity is relevant, we arrange a first meeting where you present your company.

During the meeting, we take a closer look at:

  • The business model
  • The product or technology
  • The market and customers
  • The team and organisation

The aim is to understand the company’s potential and determine whether we should proceed.

4. In-depth analysis

The next step is a more comprehensive evaluation of the company.

This may include:

  • Market analysis
  • Competitive landscape
  • Business model and scalability
  • Technology and differentiation
  • The team’s experience and capabilities

At the same time, we discuss the funding round and potential co-investors.

5. Due diligence

If we decide to move forward, a structured due diligence process is carried out.

This includes reviewing relevant documentation, such as:

  • Financial information
  • Legal matters
  • Ownership structure
  • Contracts and intellectual property

The purpose is to ensure that all the necessary conditions for an investment are in place.

6. Investment decision

Following the analysis and due diligence process, an investment decision is made.

The decision is taken internally by Almi Invest in dialogue with the other investors participating in the funding round.

7. Agreements and execution

Once the decision has been made, terms are negotiated and agreements are prepared together with the other investors.

When all agreements have been finalised, the investment is completed and the capital is released according to the agreed terms.

8. Active ownership

Following the investment, your company becomes part of the Almi Invest portfolio.

We then work actively alongside the company through:

  • Board participation
  • Strategic dialogue
  • Support with growth and future fundraising rounds

Our goal is to help portfolio companies build sustainable growth and create long-term value.

Frequently asked questions before raising investment

How long does the process take?

An investment process often takes several months from the initial contact to a completed investment. The timeline varies depending on the maturity of the company, the complexity of the funding round and how far the business has progressed in its development.

Do you invest on your own?

No. Almi Invest always invests alongside private co-investors, such as business angels and venture capital funds.

Do I need to have co-investors in place?

No, you do not need to have co-investors lined up before pitching to us. In some cases, we help identify and bring together co-investors; in others, the company already has an investor base when discussions begin.

What happens if we receive a no?

A no simply means that the company is not the right fit at this time based on our investment criteria or current investment focus. Many companies develop quickly and may become relevant for investment at a later stage.

Even if venture capital is not the right option right now, you may still be able to access support through Almi’s business loans or advisory services.
